Biological Protection. Sustainable Defense.
BioControl™ Fungi can be positioned as Crown’s fungal-based biological crop-protection platform, designed to use beneficial or antagonistic microorganisms to suppress selected agricultural pests and plant diseases while supporting a lower-chemical-input production system.
For the Philippine organic-agriculture context, fungal microbial products fall within the scope of Organic Bio-Control Agents (OBCA) under PNS/BAFS 182:2023, which expressly includes fungi among microbial control agents. (Supabase)
Proposed Crown BioControl™ Fungi platform
| Product | Primary concept | Potential application |
|---|---|---|
| BioControl™ Fungi-G | Beneficial Trichoderma platform | Root-zone disease suppression |
| BioControl™ Fungi-B | Beauveria platform | Biological insect pest management |
| BioControl™ Fungi-M | Metarhizium platform | Soil-dwelling insect management |
| BioControl™ Fungi-T | Trichoderma consortium | Rhizosphere protection and biological disease management |
| BioControl™ Fungi-A | Antagonistic fungal platform | Research/development formulation for specific pathogens |
Core technology
1. Selected fungal strain
A properly identified, characterized and documented microorganism becomes the active biological component.
2. Controlled production
The production system should document starting materials, intermediate materials, processing steps, identity and purity, consistent with the requirements applicable to OBCA products. (Scribd)
3. Formulation
The fungal propagules can be formulated into an appropriate commercial delivery system such as a wettable powder, suspension or other validated formulation.
4. Quality control
Key specifications can include:
- fungal identity
- viable propagule/spore count
- purity
- contamination limits
- moisture
- pH where applicable
- shelf life
- storage stability
- batch-to-batch consistency
PNS/BAFS 182:2023 specifically identifies microbial count, formulation composition, contaminants, analytical methods, shelf life, storage requirements and viability data among relevant product information. (Scribd)
Agarwood application
For Crown Agarwood Group, BioControl™ Fungi could become the biological-protection layer of the plantation system:
Aquilaria nursery → BioGrow™ nutrition → BioControl™ Fungi → integrated pest/disease management → BarIno™ induction → sustainable harvest
This should be kept conceptually separate from BarIno™, because BioControl™ Fungi is a crop-protection/biological-defense platform, whereas BarIno™ is your proposed agarwood resin-induction technology.
Regulatory positioning
If Crown intends to market a fungal product with an organic biocontrol claim in the Philippines, the regulatory pathway needs to be considered carefully. DA-BAFS identifies requirements for OBCA efficacy trials, Experimental Use Permits, producer/product registration and labeling. (BAFS)
Also, PNS/BAFS 182:2023 is specifically an OBCA product standard, while PNS/BAFS 420:2025 covers biostimulants and explicitly distinguishes them from crop protectants. (BAFS)
Recommended master positioning:
Crown BioControl™ Fungi
Biological Protection. Sustainable Defense.
A science-based fungal biocontrol platform for sustainable crop and plantation protection.
This gives Crown a natural product family alongside Crown BioGrow™ — Sustainable Nutrition. Regenerative Growth.
